As part of its initiatives to promote culture and the cultural heritage of Greece, Alpha Bank is participating in the exhibition “Konstantinos Parthenis. Painting an Ideal Greece”, which opened for the public on 5 July 2022 at the new building of the National Gallery – Alexandros Soutsos Museum. It is the first comprehensive retrospective exhibition dedicated to the oeuvre of outstanding Greek painter Konstantinos Parthenis, one of the most important artists of modern Greek art.
Specifically, the Alpha Bank Art Collection enriched the exhibition by lending 6 very important pieces by the artist. The close friendship between Konstantinos Parthenis and the art lovers, bankers and brothers Loverdos – founders of Popular Bank, which is part of the vivid history of Alpha Bank – explains on multiple levels the relationship between Alpha Bank and the artist.
These 6 works include 3 portraits of the Loverdos brothers by K. Parthenis. The set is completed by a landscape, a mythological theme and a poster from the major retrospective exhibition for Parthenis at Zappeio in 1920.
