Participation in retrospective exhibition for Yannis Gaitis
The Alpha Bank Art Collection is participating in the retrospective exhibition “Yannis Gaitis. The Essence of Anonymity” at the B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music.
The exhibition is organised to mark the 100-year anniversary since the Yannis Gaitis’ birth. With the assistance of his daughter, Loretta Gaiti, the exhibition presents representative and valuable works that mark Gaitis’ evolution as an artist, from 1944 up to his later creative days.
The exhibition includes self-portraits of the artist, as well as portraits of his family. There are also portraits of his wife, sculptor Gabriella Simossi, with whom he worked in Paris.
The Alpha Bank Art Collection loaned 2 works of art by Yannis Gaitis for the purposes of the exhibition:
- In the courtyard of miracles, 1966, oil on canvas, 130 x 97 cm
- Dog, 1957, oil on canvas, 73 x 100 cm
