The publication includes 13 papers on Greek colonisation written by Greek and foreign historians, archaeologists and experts in numismatics. They cover a wide range of subjects: Sicily and Southern Italy, colonies in the Black Sea, pre-Roman Pompei etc.
The publication presents new excavation data from the area of interest of each author, as well as combined approaches to the various aspects of the Greek colonisation phenomenon.
Multifaceted scientific framework
The publication Greek Colonisation: New Data, Current Approaches includes the proceedings of the scientific meeting “Greek Colonisation: New Data, Current Approaches”.
The meeting was organised by the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Numismatic Collection of Alpha Bank on 6 February 2015. This meeting was also held in the context of the exhibition “The Europe of Greece. Colonies and Coins from the Alpha Bank Collection” hosted at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki from 11 April 2014 to 18 October 2015. 15 historians and archaeologists from different countries attended the meeting.
