The 1929 depression had a strong impact on the economic and political thinking of most countries. The relevant international literature is very extensive. However, it is mostly limited to major economies. The events surrounding the smaller economies remains a subject open to investigation.
The Alpha Bank Historical Archives publication titled The Great Depression in Europe: Economic Thought and Policy in a National Context attempts to fill this gap. It features the contributions presented at a conference held by the Alpha Bank Historical Archives in Corfu. The conference was attended by distinguished academics, who reported on different national experiences.
The publication was edited by M. Psalidopoulos, professor at the University of Athens, also holding Karamanlis Chair of Hellenic and European Studies at the Fletcher School, Tufts University.
